Manager Food Science & Application
For designing and developing the next-generation of meat products


  • Responsible for developing applications and end product concepts with cultured meat products, from lab to pilot to commercial scale, in line with required product characteristics
  • Starting from a stand-alone position but leveraging a team of consultants; building own product application team and arranging facilities for characterising product development by analytical and sensorial methods
  • Gathering information from and collaborating with internal R&D teams as well as utilising external expertise on improving the flavour, colour, texture and nutritional profile 
  • Designing and developing various consumer product concepts for sensory evaluation
  • Focussing on selected product concepts, managing further testing on product characteristics, food safety and the ability for production on pilot and commercial scale
  • Involving other functional disciplines (like regulatory, commercial and quality) in preparing the final products for market launch
  • Building and maintaining relations with external partners for knowledge and equipment 
  • Reporting to the Leadership Team.


  • MSc and/or PhD in (Bio)Chemistry, Food Science, (Bio)Technology or an equivalent educational background
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience with new product development and application technology for food products, preferably with meat, alternative protein or comparable products
  • In-depth understanding of ingredients and food application processes, both bench and industrial scale, which influence the product matrix of final food products (like flavour, colour, texture and nutritional profile) 
  • Familiarity with regulatory, food safety and quality requirements in the food business
  • Capable of building and managing an own team for food science and application
