Senior Food Safety Manager

Position

  • Responsible that innovation processes across all business groups, resulting in new products and technologies, are in compliance with corporate and legal food safety and quality standards
  • Owning quality and food safety policies, procedures and systems for R&D (including pilot plants); upgrading them in line with corporate guidelines, international standards and business needs
  • Overseeing the product release for internal testing (e.g. sensory) and external testing at third parties such as customers, consumers and partners
  • Striking the balance between adhering to non-negotiable rules and creating exploration space for innovation projects based on pragmatic risk assessments
  • Monitoring, reporting and managing compliance of R&D ways of working, with relevance to food safety & quality standards, allergens, traceability and nutritional guidelines
  • Responsible for supporting strategic decisions for using worldwide dairy raw materials to make consistent quality products
  • Securing that new dairy raw materials from worldwide external suppliers for all business groups are in compliance with corporate food safety and quality standards
  • Member of the specialised Digital R&D team, located at the FrieslandCampina Innovation Centre in Wageningen, and reporting to the Digital Director.

Profile

  • Master’s/PhD degree in a relevant area like Food Science, Food Technology or an equivalent
  • Senior experience in the functional areas Quality / R&D / Regulatory in the foods industry, preferably in an international dairy company
  • Good microbiological knowledge and understanding of European and Asian food safety & quality standards and regulations
  • Strong capabilities in risk analysis, assessment and management; embedding the relevant standards in company processes and systems
  • Relevant experience with R&D/Innovation processes and empowered to sign off QA documents for R&D products for customers, clinical trials and market research
  • Strong analytical and communicational skills to translate deep dairy knowledge into strategic insights on raw materials, products and capabilities
  • Ability to create and maintain a good network of experts in R&D, Quality and Regulatory across the organisation
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, training and influencing skills
  • Personal skills: pro-active, independent, stress resistant, good judgment, problem solving, takes decisions, business acumen, accurate and pragmatic.`
